At Ecopopulus, all our Infrared Thermography Technicians are fully qualified level 2 IR Thermographers. Our Thermal Imaging teams have a wealth of multidisciplinary experience which enables us to apply building construction and engineering knowledge, to our heat and energy loss findings detected through use of our Thermal Imaging cameras. Using proven techniques to achieve the best possible diagnostic results, we offer two types of survey:
Qualitative: thermographic inspection based on the presence of a thermal gradient. This type of survey is perfect for domestic property inspections to determine the location and impact of, water ingress points, missing or poor insulation, water damaged areas, ceiling, roof and pipe leaks, electrical faults, and areas of specific thermal inefficiency. The data we collect during a Qualitative Thermal Imaging Survey is then qualitatively analysed and compiled into a professional Thermographic report tailored to the needs of our client.
Quantitative: thermographic inspection based on the presence of a thermal gradient which requires accurate and specific temperature measurement. These type of surveys are more commonly conducted upon marine equipment, petrochemical facilities, industrial plant machinery, chimney and industrial piping, busbar and advanced electrical units. Sometimes this type of survey may be required on properties and inhabitable buildings; for example, an insurance company may request more accurate data pertaining not only to the area covered by water damage, but to its duration, the extent, and an advanced penetrative mapping report. This is the type of data we collect during such Quantitative Thermal Imaging Surveys; our findings are then quantitatively analysed and compiled into a report tailored to the needs of our client.
Depending on the type of survey required (qualitative or quantitative), inspecting may be carried out on separate occasions in order to monitor change over time and provide the best possible diagnostic information. Both internal and external Thermal Imaging Inspections of a property are most commonly required to ensure the correct interpretation of data.
The Benefits of an Ecopopulus Thermal Imaging Survey Include:
- Cost savings; leaks, missing or slipped insulation, electrical problems, damp zones and thermal bridging, can all be detected without causing disruption.
- Cost savings on energy bills once the Infrared Thermographer has established and demonstrated where heat energy is escaping and where drafts are getting in.
- Mapping through thermographic inspection, providing intelligence on the makeup of the clients property/ structure; roofs, walls, ceilings, floors, basements, etc.
- Pre-emptive diagnostics through thermographic inspection and visual inspection; information on where things could go wrong before they do.
- The ability to note areas of potential concern and monitor areas of deterioration via non invasive thermographic inspection.

Upon contacting Ecopopulus:
- Our friendly and efficient office team will take your information, and provide you with a client reference number; this will appear upon all correspondence.
- Once we have established the nature of your call / email, and whether it is an emergency or not, we will then act accordingly. We will require confirmatory notification of requirement for our specialist to attend site prior to attendance and inspection.
- Our thermographers travel to site and carry out either Qualitative or Quantitative Surveys, depending on the nature of the work and the clients instruction. The information gathered is recording, making reference to image numbers, equipment locations and details, load readings, temperatures, anomalies, and suspected root causes. In addition, our IR Thermographers will record an IR and DC image of every panel inspected which opens a trending programme on the equipment; a base line for later reference. It also satisfies insurers that the job has been completed appropriately.
- On completion of the survey, our thermographer will issue an IR Thermography report to the maintenance supervisor and make them aware of problems, specifically critical issues that require immediate notification. Within 72 hours following the survey, Ecopopulus will provide the full IR Thermography report via email in .pdf format unless otherwise request. Swifter turnaround times are available upon request.
Thermal Survey reports include:
- Overview page: – Summarises problems found through thermographic inspection on site in order of severity. This overview page can be sorted per site or per organisation if required.
- Inspection: – Details the conditions of the report and the inventory equipment used.
- Problems: – This shows all problems found on site and can be sorted by various different orders such as severity.
- Baselines: – All images captured of panels inspected are held in our records providing a comprehensive archive of all equipment. These baseline references are added to each periodic inspection and give the unique ability to trend between the inspections; this assists Predictive Maintenance Schedules. All images taken can, if requested, be provided on CD for later in house reference.
